Umno vice-president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said party deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin was at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, but he did not enter Dewan Merdeka for the Umno president's briefing by Najib Abdul Razak.
The presidential briefing last night was held as a prelude to the Umno general assembly, which opened today.
Zahid said he does not know why Muhyiddin reacted in such way.
"We were informed that Muhyiddin arrived at the Putra World Trade Centre but he did not enter Dewan Merdeka
"We did not receive feedback as to why," Zahid said.
Yesterday, a picture was circulated, showing the empty deputy president's seat, which was to be occupied by Muhyiddin, during the presidential briefing.
Muhyiddin was sacked as deputy prime minister on July 28 following his criticism of Najib's handling of the 1MDB issue.
