Despite having been the Prime Minister since 2009 - more than six years now - Datuk Seri Najib Razak has yet to grasp the fact that he is the PM for all Malaysians, not only for those who support his party Umno.
TIme and again, he speaks as though he is the Umno PM rather than the Malaysian PM and forgets that the PM post is not a party post.
Recently, he applauded the success of the pro-Umno groups in the university campus elections and that he has a plan for the youths, since they now listened to Umno and supported Umno.
The New Straits Times reported that Najib, in speaking at the closing ceremony of a four-day National Undergraduate Leadership Conference (Pemanas 3.0) participated by some 225 student leaders of both public and private universities, he said Umno always listens to the voices of Gen Y in creating a brighter future for the next generations.
"This year, for the first time, the 'Pro Aspirasi' faction won in all public universities student elections; this is a result of Umno's effort to engage with the youths of Malaysia. It is the responsibility of the leaders today to provide high-paying jobs for future Malaysians. We have a plan for you (youths) and the future, and we (Umno) can deliver," he said, reports the article.
Question: Would he then not have had a plan or deliver anything if the ones who supported reforms won the campus elections? Why is he only stating that he has a plan to deliver to youths now that the pro-Umno groups have won?
Youths are the future backbone of the country, the ones the country must invest in at all costs, for the sake of developing the country. More so, in university youths, who will form the main pillars of the country as leaders and statesmen and nation builders.
Yet, it is worrying when a PM, who spouts reform, talks as if he is a naive politician and not as a statesman.
If the PM is only waiting to deliver his plans on the youth because these youths who support his political party have won, then the future of Malaysian youths is doomed, for now they not only have to support the PM’s party and not be able to make a choice of their own. For if they do make a choice of their own, then they will not be in the plan of the PM for the youths.
Najib’s statements will do either of two things - cause an uprising because the PM is taking the side of pro-Umno youths, or create a generation of youths who will pretend to support his party for the sake of getting the bounties from the Umno-led government. -http://www.theheatmalaysia.com/
