There were hardly any cheers of "long live Tan Sri" when he arrived at Putra World Trade Centre at 8.30am together with vice-president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, another Najib critic.
The only excitement was from a group of reporters who took pictures with him.

Things were different when Najib arrived a few minutes later, where the prime minister was greeted with shouts of "long live Najib".
The two leaders hardly exchanged glances while they took their places to inspect the traditional party honour guard.
A sense of unease also appeared to move through the small crowd of party delegates and officials at the ceremony as they surreptiously eyed their two leaders for any signs of discomfort.
Two days ago, Najib told party delegates that his once-close relationship with Muhyiddin had become strained after the latter's speech at a gathering in Kampung Baru.
Muhyiddin was dropped from Najib's Cabinet in July due to differences over the handling of troubled state investor 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), and the RM2.6 billion "donation" received by Najib.
Members of the Umno Supreme Council have since said that Muhyiddin could be punished for breaching party discipline.
This morning, however, Muhyiddin did not appear concerned about any possible sanction, as he met and shook hands with vice-president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who replaced him as deputy prime minister. Both were seen smilling and whispering to each other.
Another of Najib's staunchest critics in Umno, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, was already in the main hall when Najib arrived.
