Quran stresses loyalty to leaders, Najib tells Umno

Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak today impressed upon party delegates the importance of being loyal to leaders, and reminded them that Islam espoused this principle through the Quran and hadith.

​He said in his policy speech at Umno's general assembly that lack of loyalty towards the leadership would destroy‎ the party.

“The law (hukum) on loyalty is mentioned numerous times in the Quran and hadith, among them Surah An-Nisa on loyalty towards the Ulil Amri (leaders).

“In Islam, according to the evidence and valid hadith, the scholars,‎ hold on to the views and value of loyalty and obedience, which is called ‘wala’, which means being loyal and loving to the leaders and the leadership institution.”
