Former police commando, Azilah Hadri’s lawyer confirms the request will be submitted to the Sultan of Selangor at Istana Negeri, 10am tomorrow.
SERI KEMBANGAN: The former chief inspector convicted for the murder of Mongolian model, Altantuya Shariibuu, is expected to file a request seeking a royal pardon from the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, tomorrow.
This was confirmed by his lawyer, Hazman Ahmad, Sinar Online reported this evening.
He said that the request would be submitted at the Sultan of Selangor’s Administration Office, Istana Negeri at 10am, but he did not venture to provide further details of the request.
“I cannot disclose the rationale of the request as it is confidential.”
In the decade-old case, Azilah Hadri, currently imprisoned at Sungai Buloh, was sentenced to death for the 2006 murder of Altantuya. His accomplice, Sirul Azhar Umar, is is being detained by Australian immigration authorities.
On February 23, 2015, in an FMT report, blogger Shahbudin Husin said that certain influential individuals were seeking an audience with the Sultan of Selangor to obtain a royal pardon for the duo.
