'BANGLA ROTI CANAI MAKER' WHO LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE IGP KHALID BAKAR: SECURITY THREAT?
KUALA LUMPUR - While Bangladesh national Md Raton Choukidar opines that Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar looks different than he is, the 37-year-old is looking forward to meeting as well as taking a picture with the nation’s top cop.
According to a report by the New Straits Times, yesterday, Md Raton, whose resemblance to Khalid spurred netizens to visit Pak Mal Nasi Ayam Restaurant in Seksyen 10, Shah Alam to take “wefies” with him.
“However, it does makes me happy when people approach me and ask to have their picture taken with me. No matter how busy I am at work, I will try to accommodate their requests. If they are happy, I am happy, too,” Md Raton was quoted as saying.
Having stirred the social media’s nest following a picture of him with the caption, “IGP working part-time as a roti canai maker” which went viral, Md Raton also said that at first he did think much of it after a Facebook user had initially posted the picture.
“He said I looked like a policeman. I just smiled as I did not know who he was talking about. Then, more people came and told me the same thing, because they saw me on Facebook,” he was quoted as further saying.
His popularity having soared following the postings, Md Raton said that he had to sometimes come out of the kitchen due to customer’s demand for a photo opportunity
”I have had policemen coming here, too, just to have pictures taken with me. When I am out shopping on my days off, people would also approach me. A lot of people also like to stare,” he was quoted as saying.
The report further stated that Md Raton, a tailor back home, had left his country’s capital for our shores, five years ago to seek employment to support his family.
The restaurant worker had since been able to multi-task as in addition to preparing and serving food and drinks, he also trained fellow workers to do the same.
