Bail set at RM2,000 for unemployed man who caused minor injuries, wounds and broken bones to three police volunteer reserve personnel.
GEORGE TOWN: An unemployed man pleaded guilty in the Special Traffic Court here today to riding a motorcycle in a dangerous manner and injuring three police volunteer reserve personnel at the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway near The Light here at 4am on January 1.
Aizat Abdul Rahman, a 20-year-old from Sungai Nibong near here, admitted to committing the offence after the charge was read out to him before Magistrate Catherine Nicholas.
PVR personnel Oon Beow Chong, 43, broke his left leg and right arm and sustained wounds on the body; Muhammad Rushdey Rosli, 23, suffered minor injuries; and Wan Norhushafarizan Md Husain, 30, injured her right leg, left knee and right hand after being hit by Aizat’s Honda EX5 bike.
Special Traffic Court prosecuting officer ASP Ahmad Padzli Ali prosecuted while Aizat was not represented by counsel.
He was charged under Section 279 of the Penal Code— which carries a jail term of six months or a fine of RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.
The court set bail at RM2,000 in one surety and fixed February 4 for mention.
