Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, however, said the amendment would also take into consideration the rights and power of the state government in conferring awards and medals.
She said efforts were also being done to collect feedbacks on state medals and awards from the state governments.
Azalina said this in response to the media report on the conferment of unrecognised awards and medals which allegedly carried the title "Datuk" and "Datuk Seri".
The report said some individuals were willing to pay between RM40,000 and RM100,000 to get the award and medal from a neighbouring country. – Bernama
