Samy, why bother, when PM can bring in donations?

YOURSAY | ‘Why should the poor taxpayers bear the burden of such deadwood?’
Anonymous_1421406986: Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali would not have commented as such if he had been offered a ministerial ranking envoy or adviser's position. If Malaysia's special envoy of infrastructure to India and Southern Asia S Samy Vellu has failed in bringing contracts, then by all means remove him.
But on the other hand, if he is promoting contract businesses for Malaysians that have been earning good money and promotion for the country, then what is Ibrahim’s problem?
Ibrahim Ali has the knack to always say something that is outrageously moronic, and then claims that he is doing it for race, religion, and the country.
What has Ibrahim Ali done for the country; ask him to show one example. Samy Vellu is doing national service but Ibrahim Ali has always been doing national dis-service.
Anonymous_40f4: Samy's job is to ‘lobby’ for projects in India on behalf of supercronies. Even when he was the works minister, he was doing just that while on the home front.
He always claims to be fighting for the Indians, who were reduced to beggars by MIC and Samy. Now the expenses for a special envoy per month is RM27,000 salary (+ office + car + bodyguard + housing allowance + unlimited first class air travel = RM100,000 per month.
Why should the poor taxpayers bear the burden of such deadwood?
Real Truth O.K.: Samy Vellu, how many jobs has Malaysia secured in these South Asian countries for the past few years? Can't the contractors themselves tender and compete with other countries in this region?
Also, why bother doing business when our PM can get donations?
There is no need for Samy to get contracts. Big companies would know how to get contracts on their own.
Sa tombs: Why doesn’t the government appoint Ibrahim Ali and Hadi as special envoys to the Middle East and see if they can bring in RM2.6 billion worth of work?
Who knows, when they see these two fellows in the Middle East, the Arabs may just hand over their entire wealth to them and ask them to manage their respective countries.
By the way, do they know how to speak Arabic?
Hero325: The PM should just remove all these special envoys and cabinet advisers, otherwise the upcoming budget revision would be meaningless.
Everybody will argue that he/she has done a good job, but this is not the point. In times of economic difficulties, they should tender their resignation before the premier decides to remove them.
If put in that position, I would also argue that I have done a lot. This is meaningless. The government should show a good example by removing all excesses, before telling the people to support their revised budget.
In addition, these people already enjoy a good life with fat pensions. They do not need extra monies to further enjoy when the rakyat are suffering from economic difficulties.
To all special envoys and cabinet advisers, please show your patriotism by putting in voluntary resignations before the prime minister tables his revised budget.
It is fine if Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak wants to reward his former cabinet members, if the budget could carry on properly. However, now it is not okay, so all arguments to sustain these excesses are not acceptable.
Furthermore, it is also not fair to point at Samy Vellu alone, the others with same designations must also bow out - whether they are Indian, Chinese or Malay.
Joe Lee: Yes, chop Samy Vellu's useless job. What about the millions given by the PM’s Department to Perkasa and Pekida? Chop their jobs, too. All of them are pretty useless, except for spreading racism and gangsterism.
What about the chief apologist, Minister in the PM’s Department Paul ‘limbo, I can go even lower’ Low? He is not only useless, but extremely irritating in justifying unjustifiable government actions.
I am extending the list to MCA/MIC/Gerakan politicians in the government; they contribute nothing, but take their salaries and more.
Lastly, 85 percent of muftis and imams issuing fatwas here, there, and everywhere, are also pulling their weight. They would do well to issue one fatwa against corruption. If they can't do that, they should not be paid with the taxpayers’ money.
Fogbom: I noticed that Ling Liong Sik was more senior than Ong Ka Ting as the MCA president during his time. Yet Ling is now being sued by Najib, while Ong is the special envoy to China - earning US$28,000 (RM119,600) per month plus perks, like Samy Vellu.
Possibly, these two (Ong and Samy) also "help" bring in campaign contributions for BN through jacked-up contracts, which China/India then pay for.
So, fooling people has now been elevated to fooling nations. -Mkini
