There is no need to discuss the motion for the sacking of former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin and former Kedah menteri besar Mukhriz Mahathir from Umno at its next Supreme Council (MT) meeting.
Umno Information chief Annuar Musa said this was because there were too many other matters that required urgent attention and to be discussed at the meeting, which is scheduled to be held before Ramadan, including the party's preparations for the Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar by-elections.
"Personally, I think that is not an urgent matter. Although we understand that there is an obvious violation of party's regulations, there is no need for it to be viewed as a very urgent matter compared to other issues," he said when met at the Parliament lobby here today.
On the by-elections, Annuar said the list of potential candidates was being scrutinised by party president and BN chairman Najib Razak.
He said the candidates need not necessarily be locals because the most important factor was that he or she must be capable of discharging the duties as elected representatives.
The parliamentary seats of Sungai Besar in Selangor, and Kuala Kangsar in Perak, fell vacant following the death of incumbents, Noriah Kasnon and Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad, in a helicopter crash in Sebuyau, Sarawak, on May 5.
The Election Commission had announced that the by-elections would be held simultaneously on June 18, while the nomination day on June 5.
