Don’t manipulate security forces, Zahid warns

S'WAK POLLS With the Sarawak state election in mind, deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today handed out a warning to those with intentions of manipulating the country’s security forces.
He was quoted by Astro Awani as saying that he will not compromise with attempts made by certain quarters, who have employed the reverse psychological approach against security forces.
The home minister was responding to claims that there were members of the country’s security forces who were in support of the Opposition.
“There’s a blog post which has since gone viral, showing a picture of two policemen with their fingers marked with indelible ink during early voting on May 3, that they supposedly support the opposition. That didn’t happen.
“They are still in support of the government because the security forces are loyal to the current government,” said Zahid at an event in Sibu today.
Although they are free to hold to any political ideologies, Zahid said their stance is to serve the current government.
“We don’t force them in matters of political ideologies, but don’t try to use the reverse psychology method to influence others. Do not try to manipulate my boys - especially those in the police.

“They are neutral in choosing a political party but they have their own stance - that is loyalty to the federal or state government and this must be respected,” he said.
Zahid, earlier at the groundbreaking ceremony of Batalion 10 camp’s quarters project, also announced an allocation of RM20 million to build 60 new units.
The state of Sarawak is in the midst of the 11th Sarawak state election and will see voters casting their votes this Saturday after the 12-day campaign period. -Mkini
