KUCHING: The PKR-DAP feud revolving around seats both Opposition parties are contesting shows no sign of letting up, despite it being just two days away from polling.
This time, Gopeng lawmaker Dr Lee Boon Chye, of PKR, told Sarawakians not to waste their votes on DAP’s Batu Kitang candidate Abdul Aziz Isa as he had “no realistic chance of winning”.
Lee went on to state that it was better for voters to back PKR’s Voon Shiak Ni whom he described as a “qualified candidate” after having served the constituency for 10 years.
“She is not a nobody that pops up from nowhere, or is named as the candidate at the last minute,” he said at a press conference, taking a swipe at Abdul Aziz.
Abdul Aziz, who is the special assistant to Sarawak DAP Chairman Chong Chien Jen, was initially slated to stand in Stakan, against veteran PBB leader Mohammad Ali Mahmud.
However, he was named as the Batu Kitang candidate at the very last minute.
DAP has since been urging voters to support them in areas where it is locking horns with PKR.
Apart from Batu Kitang, PKR and DAP will go head-to-head in Mulu, Mambong, Murum, Simanggang and Ngemah.
Lee went on to urge Sarawakians to only support DAP in certain strongholds.
“I’m not saying do not support the ‘rocket’. But only support them in Padungan, Batu Kawah, Kota Sentosa, and Pending,” he said, alluding to the DAP.
