A portal, which is a staunch critic of Dr Mahathir Mohamad, has offered its take on the letter penned by jailed former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.
Claiming that PKR is on the verge of a split because of the former premier, MyKMU.net also roped in Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali.
It alleged that some believe that Azmin, who is also PKR deputy president, is attempting to seize control.
The portal claimed that his current position as menteri besar of a rich state makes him more powerful than the PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
“Furthermore, the backbone of PKR is now ‘resting’ (berehat) in prison, and this makes it easier for Azmin,” it alleged.
Based on this objective, the portal claimed, Azmin started collaborating with his “former boss” Mahathir.
MyKMU also claimed that Azmin has an ambition to become prime minister.
“He is diligently helping Mahathir in the Citizens’ Declaration to topple (Prime Minister) Najib (Abdul Razak) and BN because he smells the opportunity of becoming prime minister if the current government falls in the coming general election.
“By collaborating with Mahathir, Azmin believes he can garner the backing of Mahathir’s supporters.
“In this context, Mahathir and Azmin are using each other for their respective agendas,” it added.
The article alleged that after getting wind of the plot, Anwar grew concerned as it would cripple his ambition of wanting to become prime minister.
However, it added, the opposition leader is now in a weak position since he is behind bars.
“Anwar can only write a letter from prison asking for sympathy and reminding party members not to join hands with Mahathir.
“He knows that Mahathir hates him and is trying to ‘snatch’ PKR from him,” it added. -Mkini
