Rayani Air chief executive officer Ravi Alegendrran could not face the Department of Civil Aviation’s hearing today because he fainted.
“I’m sorry... Ravi fainted,” his wife Karthiyani Govindan told reporters, after attending the session alongside an airline staff, the New Straits Times reported.
She also told reporters she was rushing to the hospital to attend to her husband.
"We've received good responses from the department and there will be another session with them next week," she reportedly said.
The DCA on April 11 suspended the airline’s operations certificate for three months after a pilot strike caused massive delays in flights, leaving dozens of passengers stranded.
The DCA could permanently cancel the airline’s operations certificate if it is not satisfied with the explanation.
Rayani Air marketed itself as Malaysia’s first syariah-compliant airline, featuring tudung-clad stewardesses and the broadcasting of Muslim prayers before take-off. -Mkini
