KUALA KANGSAR: The by-election here will see a four-way contest after the Election Commission accepted the nomination papers of four candidates, including one independent.
Barisan Nasional's Datin Mastura Yazid will take on Dr Najihatussalehah Ahmad of PAS, Dr Ahmad Termizi Ramli of Amanah and independent candidate Izat Bukhary.
Returning Officer Mior Muhammad Jamil Mior Zakaria said no nomination papers were rejected, while another independent prospect, Abu Backer Sidek, could not submit his nomination papers, as he did not have a proposer and seconder.
Mastura was not present at the nomination centre on Sunday morning and was represented by her four sons.
She is still undergoing the iddah (mourning) period after the passing of her late husband, former Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad.
Her forms were submitted at 9.01am by Perak Umno information chief the Datuk Megat Ahmad Shahrani Shahruddin, followed by the other candidates.
