Grateful MyDeposit recipients leaning towards BN

Show more reactions
The recipients of MyDeposit were delighted with the BN government for giving them the maximum RM30,000 downpayment for their housing loan, which they need not pay back.
They expressed their gratitude and conceded they might consider voting for BN in the next general election, but said this generous act alone would not decide their votes.
They said they would have to take into consideration other factors and issues, such as the cost of living.
MyDeposit is a housing incentive programme to allow first-time buyers with lower income to own a house.
The government has allocated RM200 million for the programme, which was proposed by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
The first batch of loan was given out to 40 qualified house owners out of 425 applicants in Putrajaya today.
"Without this (aid), I would need to borrow from my family members. The government really helps me a lot," said a 28-year-old electrical engineer, who wants to be known only as Ng
He purchased a property worth RM410,000 in Shah Alam.
Ng, who votes in Malacca, said he would consider supporting BN as he felt that the ruling coalition is sincere in helping the people.
Another recipient, a 29-year-old software engineer who wants to be called How, prefers to keep under wraps his political affiliation.
"This will be depend on the issues," he said when met at the MyDeposit handout ceremony.
He bought a RM400,000 double-storey terrace house in Penang with his wife.
"I have yet to register as a voter. I need to settle down first so I don't have to change my voting address," he said.
Price hikes a factor
Meanwhile, 28-year-old Amos, who was touched by the government's assistance, said this move alone was not enough for him to make a decision.
"My choice is open. I will evaluate every aspect," he said.
"Let's see what they (BN) can do about the economy, price hikes and petrol prices," he said.
For 40-year-old company secretary Chan, who bought a service apartment in Cheras, she is thinking of leaning towards BN.

"I am surprised (to get this downpayment). I don't even get BR1M. The downpayment will help us a lot as I cannot get a full loan," she said.
Chan, who voted four times in Perak, said that she had voted for the opposition previously but supported BN in 2013 as she felt the opposition could not deliver what it had promised.
She, however, said her decision in the next general election would be based on how the economy performs. - Mkini
