Mastura's son denies internal sabotage against mum

K KANGSAR POLLS Naming Mastura Mohd Yazid as the BN candidate to defend her late husband's Kuala Kangsar Parliament seat has led to speculation about possible sabotage.
Talk is that some within Umno are still lobbying for the seat, despite Mastura having filed her nomination papers yesterday.
However, her eldest son, Wan Emir Astar Wan Mohamad Khair-il Anuar, denied this.
On the contrary, Wan Emir (photo) expressed confidence that the Umno machinery is working hard to ensure his mother's victory in the June 18 by-election.
"We as a team do not feel this (element of sabotage) is happening and we are much focused.
"I am grateful to the party machinery, which is working towards our victory," he told reporters after vising the BN operations centre this afternoon.
On another matter, Wan Emir also commented on the claim that he and this three siblings are escorted by security personnel during their campaign.
"For me, this is just speculation... We mix with the people as always, there are no bodyguards, left and right," he said.
The Kuala Kangsar seat fell vacant after Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad was killed in a helicopter crash during the Sarawak election campaign last month.

Also killed in the incident was Sungai Besar MP Noriah Kasnon. A by-election will also be held on the same date for this parliamentary seat.
Meanwhile, Mastura will not be meeting voters or speaking at ceramah session during the campaign period as she is still observing the mourning period as prescribed by Islam.
However, she has vowed to reach out to the constituents using the Internet.
Mastura, a lawyer by training, faces Dr Najihatussalehah Ahmad of PAS, Prof Dr Ahmad Termizi Ramli from Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) and an Independent, Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary.-Mkini
