PLUS offers 20pc rebate for Aidiladha, Malaysia Day

The offer is only for those using electronic payment modes.
Noorizah Abd HamidKUALA LUMPUR: PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) is offering a 20 per cent toll rebate to motorists plying the North-South Highway, the North-South Expressway Central Link (Elite), the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link (Linkedua) and the Butterworth-Kulim Expressway (BKE) using electronic payment modes.
PLUS Managing Director Noorizah Abd Hamid said the rebates would be given on Sept 12 (Monday) and Sept 16 (Friday) in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha and Malaysia Day.
“Class 1 Vehicle users (except taxis) who pay the toll electronically which is through PLUSMiles, Touch ‘n Go cards and SmartTAG will enjoy the 20 per cent rebate,” she said in a statement here today.
Noorizah said motorists travelling on Sept 12 and 16 will still have to pay the tolls as usual, but the 20 per cent rebate would be credited into their cards between Oct 15 and Jan 14, 2017 at all PLUS customer service centres.
She said the rebates were part of PLUS’s efforts to encourage the public to switch to electronic payments which were easier and faster.
“The rebates will be for the whole day and are not limited to specific times,” she said.
However, the rebates will not be given to motorists paying tolls at the Tanjung Kupang, Bukit Kayu Hitam, Bangunan Sultan Iskandar and Penang Bridge toll plazas.
PLUS also expects the volume of traffic on the North-South Highway to increase by 15 per cent to 1.6 million vehicles each day between Sept 9 until 19, 2016 for the festive season compared to 1.4 million vehicles each day on normal days.
Earlier today, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd announced it would be providing free service for three days to commuters on the Light Rail Transit System, Kelana Jaya line, from Sept 13 to 15 following service disruptions on Wednesday and this morning.
Prasarana Malaysia Berhad Chief Executive Officer Azmi Abd Aziz said the free service for the Gombak-Putra Heights-Gombak route covered 37 stations.
