Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) will not host the Islamic Medicine-Santau Seminar at its main campus here, as previously reported.
USM in a statement today said the proposed seminar was made several months ago by several of its staff with an interest in Islamic medicine, which the university has decided was neither its priority nor focus.
"This issue has been reviewed by USM which sees it as not a priority and field of expertise and focus, especially the Advanced Medical and Dental Institute (IPPT).”
The USM focus was to develop and enhance academic and research expertise, including empowering IPPTs and become a leading research centre in oncology.
Thus, any discussion, discourse and conference would only be focused on actual expertise of USM academic staff, said the statement.
