Five, including MPK officers, held over botched fireworks

Police detained five, including four Klang Municipal Council officers in its probe into the botched fireworks display at the council's New Year's Eve event which injured 16.
Klang Selatan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Alzafny Ahmad said all five are remanded until Sunday, and probed under Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957, the New Straits Times reported.
Fireworks exploded at ground level at the Fiesta Gegar Klang organised by MPK at an event at Pandamaran Sports Complex, injuring 12 adults and four children.

MPK's preliminary investigations found the fireworks were never approved, and was not part of the event itinerary.
Police said MPK did not obtain a permit to conduct a fireworks display while the pyrotechnician was unlicensed.
Those injured received outpatient treatment, while some have threatened to take legal action against the local council.- Mkini
