PAS rejects offer to work with DAP

PAS president says Lim Kit Siang’s offer has more to do with winning the general election, whereas PAS wants to do more than just that as it wants to bring change.
awanghadiMARANG: PAS today reiterated it would turn down any offer from DAP for electoral cooperation.
Its president, Abdul Hadi Awang, said a recent offer by DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang for the two parties to work together again was not something new.
Offers for electoral cooperation among opposition political parties would always crop up before a general election, he told reporters after delivering his weekly “kuliah” (talk) in Rusila here.
Hadi said PAS-DAP cooperation was a thing of the past because the two parties had their respective agendas and DAP was against several of PAS’ agendas, especially in introducing shariah laws for Muslims.
“Kit Siang’s offer is tuned more towards winning (the general election).
“PAS wants to do more than win the election; it wants to bring change,” he said.
Hadi was asked to comment on Lim’s offer for the two parties to work together again in the 14th general election, due by June next year.
DAP decided to sever links with Hadi after PAS insisted on going ahead with its plan to implement hudud law in Kelantan.
Asked about possible talks between Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) and PAS next month, Hadi said the discussions could be held but PAS gave preference to its principles, policies and objectives in every matter prior to adopting decisions. -FMT
