Bersatu holds first solo ceramah in Terengganu minus PAS

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) last night organised its first ever ceramah in Terengganu, with a notable absence of PAS leaders.
Previously, Bersatu had chosen to share PAS’ platform when it came to ceramahs in the state.
Above the absence of PAS leaders, notable was the presence of Kuala Terengganu MP Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad from Parti Amanah Negara, a PAS splinter party and their sworn enemy.
“I am thankful to Allah for this night as for the first time, we are in a function organised by Bersatu on Terengganu soil,” Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin said in his opening remarks at the ceramah in Ajil, Hulu Terengganu last night.
In his speech, Muhyiddin presented similar talking points he had done at previous PAS ceramahs in Terengganu, speaking about 1MDB’s origins in the state when it was then known as Terengganu Investment Authority (TIA).
He also spoke at length about his history in Umno, stressing that the party had strayed from its struggle.
“When I was in government, I told Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak that it would be best to audit (1MDB) so that the people can know the true story.
“So the next day, Najib announced that the decision of the cabinet - we want the auditor-general to audit 1MDB.
“He said the people don’t need to worry because when the audit is done they can see for themselves... so I supported his statement,” said the former deputy prime minister.
The ceramah was streamed live on Facebook.
However, Muhyiddin said when the report was finally completed, it was classified as secret under the Official Secrets Act 1972.
“This means Najib is a liar,” he said, adding that the prime minister had something to hide.
DOJ suits raised
Muhyiddin also raised the US Department of Justice’s move to recover some US$1 billion in assets alleged acquired using funds allegedly stolen from 1MDB.

He made no mention about seat negotiations with PAS.
Muhyiddin was earlier this week put in a spot by PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man when the latter claimed Bersatu supported the proposed amendments to the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965, or Act 355.
Muhyiddin later denied this, stating that Bersatu has yet to make a stand until the final form of the proposed amendment is clear.
PAS Ulama information chief Khairuddin Aman Razali yesterday said Bersatu’s support of the amendment was a prerequisite to negotiating with PAS.- Mkini
