Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has announced that North Korean embassy officials and staff are barred from leaving Malaysia.
“The Home Ministry through the immigration department has issued this order (to be implemented) with immediate effect,” he told a special press conference in Parliament.
The move followed Pyongyang imposing a temporary ban on Malaysians in North Korea from leaving the republic.
There are 11 Malaysians in North Korea, Deputy Foreign Minister Reezal Merican told reporters at the Parliament lobby.
