FOR NAJIB’S RM2.6BIL, YOU PUT MALAY SOLDIERS IN ILLEGAL WAR IN YEMEN WHERE MUSLIMS ARE KILLING MUSLIMS? WONG CHEN GRILLS HISHAM

PETALING JAYA – Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein continues to defend the stand that Malaysia has no involvement in any military action by Saudi Arabia and its coalition of forces against Yemen.
In the Dewan Rakyat today, the defence minister, in a reply to a question from Mujahid Yusof Rawa (Amanah-Parit Buntar), said that Malaysia’s armed forces are on the Saudi-Yemen border on “humanitarian” grounds, being there only to rescue Malaysian students. It was previously reported that there are 500 Malaysian students in Yemen.
Despite Mujahid pointing out that the international media and even Saudi-owned media stating that Malaysia was involved in military actions by the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen, Hishammuddin (Barisan Nasional-Sembrong) denied it, saying “we cannot rely on reports by the international media”.
Mujahid added that the media reports were also backed by the United Nations, with the UN saying the military actions were a war crime.
“We have a small force only and even if we want to take part in any offensive action, we are not able to,” Hishammuddin told the Dewan Rakyat, insisting that he is being absolutely honest that Malaysia is not involved in the war.
In response to the exchange between Mujahid and Hishammuddin in Parliament this morning, Wong Chen (PKR-Kelana Jaya) shared his thoughts on the issue on his Facebook page.
“So there you have it. The official BN government stand is whatever the rest of the world reports are lies and whatever BN says is the absolute truth.
“This is also the same position for all 1MDB related reports. That the rest of the world is lying or delusional on 1MDB,” Wong Chen wrote, trying to suggest a link between the Saudi-led attack on Yemen with the RM2.6 billion donation from a Saudi prince to Prime Minister Najib Razak.
“The RM2.6 billion donation issue has come full circle, ensnaring Malaysia into the Yeman war.
“A war where Malaysia has no geopolitical reason to be involved in. An illegal war where Muslims are killing other Muslims. A war that puts our soldiers on harm’s way, for what?” Wong Chen said.
