Gov't seeks additional RM3b allocation for Budget 2016

PARLIAMENT| The federal government is seeking an additional RM3.081 billion allocation for the 2016 budget, with RM2.25 billion to be channeled to statutory funds.
A total of RM60 million was used by the Election Commission (EC) to conduct the Sarawak state election in May 2016, while RM2.78 million was used for emolument, services and supplies for the election.
This is the first supplementary supply bill sought by the government since the budget recalibration presented by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak in January 2016.
Najib initially announced a RM267.2 billion allocation for Budget 2016.
Apart from the RM2.25 billion for statutory funds, the Ministry of Education would receive RM298 million, RM216 million for the Ministry of Transport, RM 128 million for the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, RM 104 million for the Ministry of Health and RM24.13 million for the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

An additional RM20 million is to be channeled for the upgrading works of the Pan Borneo Highway while over RM250 million is for upgrading of works carried out in eight states.
For the Health Ministry, RM104 million was used for managing medical supplies nationwide.
Whereas, the Foreign Ministry used the additional spending for multilateral affairs, representatives' offices overseas, and for building maintenance.
