Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak should shed light on 1MDB if Finance Minister II Johari Abdul Ghani does not have the "full picture", said DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang.
This was in response to Johari's claim last week that the government could not press charges on the 1MDB scandal without a full picture.
"I concede that as second finance minister, Johari may not have the full story of the 1MDB scandal. However, the prime minister and finance minister Najib has the full story of the 1MDB scandal. Or is Najib prepared to deny this?
"Is Johari prepared to confront Najib that as second finance minister he should be told the full story of the 1MDB scandal, or he would submit his instant resignation from the cabinet?" Lim asked in a statement today.
Lim, who is Gelang Patah MP, said Johari's reply on why there are no prosecutions over the 1MDB scandal was "naive" and "shocking" since 1MDB is a Finance Ministry entity.
Moreover, the United States Department of Justice lawsuit to seize assets believed bought with funds siphoned by 1MDB is 126-page long and has a "fairly full story", said Lim.
Johari's reply in Parliament last week prompted an exchange between the minister and DAP's Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua, through multiple open letters.
"Pua, whatever you may call it, bailout, rescue or whatever; the primary concern is to resolve the 1MDB issue, mitigate the losses, limit the liability of the government and reduce the impact of 1MDB to our economy and future generations," Johari said in his open letter today.- Mkini
