PAS Permatang Pauh today unanimously passed a resolution to end political co-operation with PKR, claiming PKR no longer respects the relationship.
PKR in Penang no longer respects PAS and is in cahoots with its Pakatan Harapan partners DAP and Parti Amanah Negara to attack PAS, Sinar Harian reported Permatang Pauh PAS chief Omar Hassan as saying.
"Worse, we received reports from PAS members that PKR asked our members to leave PAS and join PKR, so they can hold government posts.
"This irresponsible move shows PKR does not respect our friendship," he told reporters at a press conference after the Permatang Pauh PAS annual general assembly today.
Earlier, a To' Kandu delegate moved a motion to cut ties with PKR and contest at the Permatang Pauh parliamentary constituency and the three state constituencies under it.
Permatang Pauh is the stronghold of PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim. His wife and Opposition Leader Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail was elected Permatang Pauh MP after Anwar lost his seat, when he was convicted of sodomy in 2015.
Despite the break up of Pakatan Rakyat, PKR maintained relations with PAS, especially in Selangor where PAS, PKR and DAP still make up government.
PKR deputy president Azmin Ali has insisted to continue to negotiate an electoral pact between PAS and Harapan, to ensure straight fights against BN in the 14th general election.- Mkini
