Rosmah's aide retaliates, ropes in Guan Eng's graft case

As the war of words between Rosmah Mansor's aide and a DAP assemblyperson continues, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng is becoming collateral damage.
Yesterday, Rizal Mansor roped Lim into the row to drive home his point on Rosmah's educational background that made her suitable for her Permata post and asked if the chief minister had the required expertise to helm the Penang Water Supply Corporation.
In his latest retort, Rizal once again mentioned Lim, raising the latter's corruption case.
“Is there not a single DAP assemblyperson in Penang who is qualified to be made chief minister to replace Lim, who has been charged over allegations of corruption?
“Is this not an insult to DAP assemblypersons?” he asked.
The exchange erupted after Rosmah, who is the wife of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, urged all quarters not to politicise or cast aspersions on Permata.
Following this, DAP's Damansara Utama assemblyperson Yeo Bee Yin called on Rosmah to quit as the patron if she could not tolerate public scrutiny of Permata.
Reiterating her call today, Yeo claimed Rosmah lacked the legitimacy, credibility and public trust to hold positions.
However, Rizal said, as the patron of Permata, Rosmah, unlike the chief minister of Penang, does not have executive powers.
He also accused Yeo of ridiculing Permata to save herself after coming under fire from the DAP leadership for praising the agency in the past.
“Have to work hard. Must show 'tokong' to ensure (Yeo's) name remains (in DAP's candidates list) for the next general election.
“Whatever said and done, she has acknowledged that Permata, under the patronage of Rosmah, has been successful,” Rizal added.

The term 'Tokong' is often used by Lim's critics, who accuse him of running Penang with an iron fist.
This morning, Lim ticked off Rizal for comparing him to Rosmah and argued that he had the right to head the state water corporation as he was an elected official, unlike the prime minister's wife.
He then dragged Kedah Menteri Besar Ahmad Bashah Hanipah into the matter, pointing out that the latter also holds several posts in the state due to his position as menteri besar, regardless of his educational background.- Mkini
