Sarawak Harapan reach seat deal

Sarawak Pakatan Harapan have reached a deal on seat distributions for the upcoming general election.
In a joint statement today, the three parties said PKR and DAP candidates will be fielded in Parliamentary seats where both parties had contested in 2013.
As for Parti Amanah Negara, they will be fielding candidates for seats which were allocated to PAS in the last general election.
"There may be some variation but that will be subject to mutual agreement of the parties involved.
"Failing any mutal agreement, we will fall back to the arrangement that the party who contested that particular seat in GE13 will contest the seat in GE14," read the joint statement.
This latest development marked a departure from the normally thorny relationship between Sarawak PKR and DAP in recent years.
During the state elections last year, seat allocation talks broke down, resulting in several multi-corner contests involving both parties.
Meanwhile, the three parties have set up a secretariat involving two senior members of each party to coordinate inter-party cooperation.
The secretariat will also draft the Sarawak Pakatan Harapan joint manifesto.
"The next election shall be the time to save Malaysia from becoming a kleptocratic nation and to save all Malaysians from the economic disaster that BN has pushed us into.

"Malaysia and all Malaysians cannot afford to give Najib and BN another five years. Change we must for the future of our children and the country.
"Therefore, we, Sarawak Pakatan Harapan, shall do our best to work together to change the government and save the country," read the joint statement.
The statement was signed by Sarawak Amanah chief Fidzuan Zaidi, Sarawak PKR chief Baru Bian and Sarawak DAP chief Chong Chieng Jen.- Mkini
