Satirical side of Bersih 3 in Comedy Court

The Bersih 3 rally takes on a humorous twist as Comedy Court’s Allan Perera and Indi Nadarajah, acting as Ceylonese aunties, give their witty spin to the rally through social satire.
Caught in the Bersih 3 between protesters and water spray, Ceylonese aunty Thawi (Indi) relates to Mertle (Allan) the pandemonium of everyone running all over Jalan Pudu near the temple.
The comedy centres around Thawi’s unfortunate visit to the temple, with her not knowing that Bersih 3 was taking place on that day.
She relates her experience being trapped in the rally to a number of people during the course of her day.
Thawi gives a mind blowing account of the rally held for clean and fair elections.
Themed as ‘Rally On’, the two-hour comedy will be held from March 21 to April 2, 2017 will be staged at PJ Live Arts @ Jaya One in Section 13, Petaling Jaya.
‘Rally On’ is a Giggle Charity 2017 production. Giggle (M) Sdn Bhd is founded and headed by Allan Perera, one-half of the duo, with the aim of helping charities and NGOs.
“We want to raise funds through professionally-produced shows, easing their fund-raising burden in an efficient, entertaining, and giggle-inducing manner,” said Allan.
As they entertain and tickle audiences with clever and witty social satire, about half the proceeds are for charities.
In July and October 2015, Giggle raised over RM300,000 through 27 performances of the Giggle Band’s live music and ‘Malaysia’s Got Scandal’ (Perera’s fictional reality comedy talent show).
This was in collaboration with several charities and NGO’s, including Brickfields Asia College’s (BAC) EduNation, an education company which provides free online tuition for students. In December 2015, Giggle hosted a 13-hour charity live music marathon called the ‘Make It Right!’ Movement where a whopping 25 bands came together on Dec 13, 2015 in an effort to raise funds for fellow performing musicians requiring medical aid, and EduNation.

For Giggle’s 2017 production of Rally On, the best seats in the house, VIP and VVIP seats, for eight show dates, are in support of the National Autism Society of Malaysia (Nasom), which aims to deliver lifespan services to the community of persons with autism.
The other four show dates are dedicated to these charities and NGOs - My Shining Star Foundation (organisation empowering underprivileged children), Cricket Kuala Lumpur, Persatuan Rumah Kanak-Kanak Trinity Selangor, Yayasan Perpaduan Rakyat Malaysia (YPRM), Kuala Lumpur & Selangor Artists (NGO), District Grand Lodge of the EA, and Grace Assembly PJ.
