Syed Saddiq doesn't foresee trouble if Bersatu backs Act 355

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Youth chief does not believe that his party will face friction with its allies in Pakatan Harapan if it supported the amendments to the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965 (Act 355).
According to Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, even Harapan parties such as PKR and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) are deliberating on the amendments.
“They are deliberating on whether to support it or otherwise. At this point, they are studying the contents in detail,” he told Sinar Harian.
However, Syed Saddiq did not mention DAP, which is vehemently opposed to the matter.
DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang has defied non-Umno BN component party leaders to fulfil their promise to resign if the government allowed Act 355 to be debated in Parliament.
DAP and PAS were once allies in the now defunct Pakatan Rakyat but became bitter foes over the Islamic party's theocratic ambitions.
PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has also been reported as saying that Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin supported the amendments brought forth by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.

He said during a meeting with PAS, Muhyiddin expressed his full commitment to this issue.
Hadi's Private Member's Bill for the Act 355 amendments will likely be debated and voted on during this current Dewan Rakyat sitting.
Previously, PAS said it would only cooperate with parties that back the amendment.- Mkini
