KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition leader Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has asked the Election Commission (EC) to reveal the identity of two experts in topography and population demographics in the country.
She called for the delineation process to be put on hold until the identities of the two officers acting as advisers to the commission were revealed.
She said she had recently raised the issue of their appointment under the Federal Constitution, adding that she had done so as the appointment was under the king.
“I urge the government to reveal the identity of the two officers, as stated in the Federal Constitution under Article 115.”
She said as the opposition head, she would not hesitate to bring the matter to the attention of the king if the Election Commission did not identify the two officers.
The delineation exercise, proposed by EC last year, has come under fire from Barisan National and opposition leaders who say it is unfair.
Some said the exercise will see more Malay-majority areas in Selangor while others have said their areas will be reduced. -FMT
