DAP vs ROS - heads I win; tails, you lose

YOURSAY | ‘Why does the ROS take four long years to order the re-election?’
Gerard Lourdesamy: DAP candidates can still contest under PKR, Amanah and Bersatu party symbols or as independents. DPM Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, go read the election laws.
The DAP can also challenge the Registrar of Societies (ROS) decision when communicated to them by way of a judicial review and use the ROS statement in the High Court during the 2014 judicial review application to show bad faith and unreasonableness.
Or the DAP can hold another election for its central executive committee (CEC) as requested by the ROS, or convene an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) of the party to defer the CEC elections until after GE14 and ratify the 2013 election results in the interim.
If Pakatan Harapan wins GE14, the new government should form a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) to investigate the registration of Umno Baru in 1987/88 and the role of the ROS in enabling and facilitating that despite an application by the Tunku Abdul Rahman and Hussein Onn to register Umno Malaysia.
It is time that the ROS be placed directly under Parliament and with oversight by an Administrative Court.
Mushiro: It is not for DPM Zahid, who is also the home minister, to comment on DAP's registration status as it is conflict of interest.
It is in Zahid's and Umno's interest that DAP is deregistered. It is even more strange that many, including Najib's aide Tengku Sariffuddin Tengku Ahmad and now Zahid, is well informed about this matter by ROS but the affected party DAP is kept in the dark by ROS.
Anonymous 2436471476414726: So that is the ulterior motive. Zahid himself has said it, which is to make sure DAP candidates cannot contest.
But Zahid you have not answered the all-important questions. Why does the ROS take four long years to order the re-election? Also, why does the ROS director-general have to meet you first before deciding on the re-election?
The scenario is similar to the Sodomy II case suffered by Anwar Ibrahim whereby the complainant, Saiful Bukhari Azlan, went to see the then deputy prime minister first before making the report.
The action against DAP is the first of many dirty tricks Umno will unleash against opposition parties leading up to GE14.
Anonymous 759201436321741: DAP, don't fight them. Your first priority is to stay intact going into GE14. Do what they said and hold the EGM as directed.
He who fights and run away will live to fight another day. When you are in Putrajaya, you can take your time to do what you want to do. You might have the last laugh, not Zahid.
Headhunter: There is one solution for DAP to consider if it is forced to rerun their election. And that is to agree to no contest to all the current positions but with a caveat that there will be a re-election say, six months after the next general election where any member is free to contest.
This would satisfy the ROS demand, keep peace in the party and give the BN a fart in the face. And the best part is that it can be done very quickly without missing a heartbeat.
Hang Babeuf: "Why did ROS take four years to order re-election?" Simple! Because a general election was due in/within five years.
Remember the nomination day/election eve uncertainty, panic and intimidation [the sheer and crass "bastardry"] of GE13?
When DAP had to make last-minute contingency plans on the eve of nomination day for their candidates to contest under a different party flag and another [not "Rocket"] party symbol? That kind of "extra effort" may be needed, and may be set in motion before GE14 if Umno/BN thinks it's needed.
For the Umno tacticians and "hard men", a GE is like a horse race: one in which the key alternatives and rivals to Umno/BN must be made to run with 20 kilos of extra lead in their saddles.
What could be fairer? Umno deserves that continuing advantage, they maintain.
GE14 Voter: In the end, all these unfair tactics against DAP will help the party win more seats in the next GE as people will side with underdogs as their sense of natural justice will compel them to fight against injustice.
However, DAP also needs to stop being arrogant as usually portrayed by DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang and son. While people are against injustice, they also cannot tolerate arrogance.

Ib: A party cornered is a dangerous party! No, I am not talking about DAP but the one that has allegedly taken public money and continues to do it.- Mkini
