Penang second bridge to be closed for upgrading works

A contra-flow lane will be activated during the period to facilitate traffic flow to and from the island.
Jambatan-Kedua-Sdn-BhdKUALA LUMPUR: The Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah bridge (JSAHMS) will be closed to all vehicles from 8.30am to 6.30pm from July 10 to 14 for upgrading works involving Km16.4 to Km18.6.
According to a statement issued by Jambatan Kedua Sdn Bhd (JKSB), the eastbound route to Batu Kawan (Km16.4 to Km18.6) will be closed from July 10 to 13 while the westbound route to Batu Maung (Km16.04 to Km18.6) will be closed on July 14.
JKSB said the closure was to facilitate the installation of sensors on the pylons in the eastbound direction.
“The sensors are part of the elements under the Structural Health Monitoring System (SHMS) module of the Integrated Asset Management Systems (IAMS) developed by JKSB for the maintenance of the bridge.
“A contra-flow will be activated during this period to facilitate the traffic flow to and from Penang Island, and the disruption to the traffic flow is expected to be minimal,” it said.
JSAHMS users are advised to follow the instructions and road signs at the affected locations and adhere to the speed limit.
For inquiries, users can contact JKSB at 1-300-30-2828, email aduan@jambatankedua.com.my or visit its Facebook at www.facebook.com/jsahmsofficial. They can also follow JKSB’s Twitter account at @jsahmsofficial for updates. -FMT
