Rafizi not the 'victim' in NFC issue, says Shahrizat

PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli is not the "victim" in the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) controversy, said Umno Wanita chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
Utusan Malaysia Online quoted Shahrizat as saying this is because the Pandan MP had "abused" and manipulated the Whistleblower Protection Act 2010, to achieve his political goals.
Rafizi also neglected the legal rights of others, including hers, by resorting to political attacks using issues related to the NFC, according to Shahrizat.
"Instead of going by the law, Rafizi used half-baked stories to manipulate the people regarding the case," she was quoted as saying in a statement, adding that Rafizi's deed had caused NFC to fail, and in the process, backfired on him by landing him in jail.
Thus, Rafizi was not the "victim" in this case, she continued.
"The real victims are those who paid dearly for his manipulation."
Yesterday, Rafizi and former Public Bank clerk Johari Mohamad were each sentenced to 30 months' jail after being found guilty of leaking banking data from the accounts of NFC.
Rafizi, however, obtained a stay on his sentencing and joked that it would allow him to campaign for others in the 14th general election.
Rafizi and Johari were charged in 2012, under Section 97 of the Banking and Financial Institutions Act (Bafia), for the disclosure of four accounts linked to NFC and its chairperson Mohd Salleh Ismail, who is the husband of Shahrizat.- Mkini
