I can tolerate name-calling, not slander – Wee mulls suing Kit Siang

MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong is considering legal action against DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang.
This is over Kit Siang's allegation that Wee is acting according to a script from BN strategic communications department director Abdul Rahman Dahlan on the Penang undersea tunnel scandal.
"I will tolerate you calling me names like 'catspaw' and 'ninja assassin', but I will not accept you slandering me," the MCA leader said in a statement today.
Wee said he appreciated Kit Siang's "desperation" in defending his son, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, over the tunnel project as it is "borne out of parental love".
"However, that is not a valid excuse to lie and wrongly accuse me," he added.
Kit Siang had accused Rahman (photo) of being Wee's “handler” and feeding him with the script to mount a ceaseless attack against the Penang state government and Guan Eng to divert attention from the 1MDB scandal.
The DAP veteran had responded to Rahman's suggestion that Kit Siang represents Guan Eng if the latter was scared to face Wee at a forum on the tunnel, scheduled for tomorrow night at the chief minister's parliamentary stronghold of Bagan.
Come and test my knowledge
Meanwhile, Wee alleged that Kit Siang was attempting to divert attention in order for Guan Eng not to attend the forum.
Posters of the forum have gone viral on social media. Apart from Wee, the other speakers are BN strategic communications department deputy director Eric See-To as well as Penang MCA leaders Tan Teik Cheng and Dr Tan Chuan Hong.
The “Ceramah Kisah Benar 2.0 Pulau Pinang” posters listed Guan Eng and Kit Siang as "special guests (unconfirmed".
Wee has claimed the undersea tunnel incurred losses of RM20.5 billion, which Kit Siang deemed to be fictitious.
"In wrongly accusing me of taking directions from anyone to question his son, Kit Siang also avoided answering whether he will come to the forum, instead of his son, and explain to the audience why he believes my findings of RM20.5 billion is wrong," said the MCA number two.
Wee also emphasised that as a trained civil engineer with a doctorate in transportation planning, he is qualified to debate the tunnel project, which is also the subject of a MACC probe.
Before politics, the Ayer Hitam MP said he specialised in feasibility, traffic impact assessment (TIA) and environmental impact assessment (EIA) as well as other detailed designs for civil projects similar to that of the three
main roads that are part of the Penang tunnel project.
"I, myself, have conducted and overseen dozens of such studies," he added.Wee said an official invitation has been sent to Guan Eng to attend the forum.
“We would like to now extend the invitation to Kit Siang as well. In fact, I welcome Kit Siang to come meet me face-to-face and test my knowledge on this subject himself.
"Let Kit Siang find out if I am taking scripts from anyone," he added. -Mkini
