Rafidah an old woman who rants too much: Nazri

Umno supreme council member Mohamad Nazri Abdul Aziz today described former cabinet minister Rafidah Abdul Aziz as an “old woman who rants too much”.

“She rants too much. She could not contest in the Umno elections the last time so she is angry.

“So she lost to Shahrizat (Abdul Jalil) whom we hope will become a minister again after this.

“So she cannot stand to see Shahrizat (who) is a much better Umno Wanita chief than Rafidah was,” said Nazri.

He was speaking to reporters after launching the “Peking Man in Malaysia: Zhoukoudian Heritage Site” exhibition at the National Museum in Kuala Lumpur today.

Rafidah is former international trade and industry minister and was dubbed “Iron Lady” by the press for her tough stance when representing the country at foreign trade negotiations.

Nazri said Shahrizat is working hard and is able to reach out to women, whereas Rafidah did not want to do such work when she was the Umno Wanita chief.

“Rafidah is vengeful against Shahrizat because she sees Shahrizat is strong... and we all support Shahrizat as Umno Wanita chief, so she is jealous,” he said.

Rafidah had previously said that she, as a citizen of Malaysia, has a right to speak on matters concerning her country.

“Don’t ever question my ‘locus standi’ to speak, to comment and air my views,” she had said.

Another Umno veteran, Rais Yatim, has also been vocally critical of some aspects of the government, especially 1MDB, of late.

However, Nazri said Rais, who still serves the government as a special adviser, is merely concerned and providing his advice.

“To me, Rais is very concerned, because he is part of the government, he is our adviser.

“So he feels that he needs to say something... he is just giving his advice, it is okay,” he said. Mkini
