KUALA LUMPUR: The Ramadan bazaar fiasco, which implicates certain politicians, has turned into a he-said, she-said situation, with Bukit Bintang Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chief Zailani Isausuludin refuting claims made by traders involved in the controversy.
"Most of the traders involved are still out of town for Hari Raya. Some have contacted me and they are willing to go on record to say that they paid Pribumi Youth leader Mohd Noorhisyam Abd Karim money for the lots," he said.
"We are compiling the list of those who paid for the lots and once we get everyone's co-operation on this matter, we will have a press conference to get to the bottom of this once and for all,'' Zailani said.
He said this in a press conference on Thursday (June 21) here following another by a group of traders on Wednesday (June 20) defending Mohd Noorhisyam.
.An online portal reported that Mohamad Azman Abdul Rahman, who represented traders, said it was Noorhisyam who had helped them get the bazaar lots and they did not pay him any money.
Bukit Bintang MP Fong Kui Lun has since lodged a report with the police on Wednesday and another with the MACC on Thursday.
The Ramadan bazaar scandal erupted after Mohd Noorhisyam was accused of misusing political connections to secure 80 bazaar lots for RM6,238.40.
He allegedly rented them out for as high as RM5,000 per lot through middlemen.-Star
