ALI HAMSA THE NEXT ‘UMNO POLITICAL APPOINTEE’ TO FIGHT BACK?: ‘HE IS NOT TO BLAME FOR THE ACTS OF SABOTAGE’ – LEADERSHIP GROUP SHELLS G25 FOR DEMANDING CHIEF SECRETARY’S RESIGNATION

PETALING JAYA – The Institute for Public Leadership today said it was improper for the G25 to urge Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Ali Hamsa to resign.
Its president, Datuk Mohd Radzi Abd Latif, said the call was made hastily, without facts or evidence.
“We agree with the Prime Minister that there are government servants who sabotage the Pakatan Harapan government’s plans due to their sympathy or support for the previous government.
“However, the acts of sabotage are unlikely done at the levels of a chief secretary or secretary-general as they are well aware that their acts are highly visible and any evidence of lack of cooperation with their ministers would easily be noticed or detected, leading them to be immediately reprimanded.”
He said acts of sabotage would likely take place among lower level officers who could deliberately slow down processing documents or ignore directives from their superiors.
These saboteurs want the present government to fail as they could have benefited in cash or kind from various politicians in the previous administration, he added.
Radzi said the better thing for G25 to do was to be a public service ombudsmen and set up a system of public complaints and channel these to the chief secretary for immediate disciplinary action or intervention.
“G25 needs to be fair to the chief secretary and judge him by his conduct and not by hearsay.
“He was the one urging the Election Commission chairman not to delay or hold back the announcement of the polls results.”
He said Ali has been professional in his conduct and has not shown any signs of not cooperating with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, or displayed any indication to sabotage the government.
“G25 should retract their statement and meet (Ali) and offer help to identify saboteurs and bring them to book rather than unfairly urging him to resign.”
