Would you kill if I ordered you to? - Dr M to civil servants

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has reminded civil servants to serve the government of the day, but not to the extent of committing crimes.
"If I ordered you to commit murder, would you do that?
“There are two kinds of order. One is asking to commit a crime, and the other is based on certain principles," he said during a town hall session in Putrajaya today.
Mahathir, who did not mention any particular case, said civil servants, including police and army personnel, have the right to disobey an order if it violated moral values.
However, he said some officers blindly followed orders.
"When the officer is ordered to do something wrong, he is willing to do it.
“He... hides evidence while those who leak information (of the wrongdoing) are punished. This is wrong,” he added.
Mahathir also reminded civil servants of their right to decline if asked to campaign for political parties.
"If you are asked to go out and campaign for a political party, you have to say 'no'. They (those who ask) cannot punish you. If all of you say 'no', how can they punish?
"I'm expecting civil servants to be loyal to the current government but if any of us asks you to do things which are against the law, please decline," he added. - Mkini
