In final speech, Wan Azizah urges members to accept poll results

PKR AGM | In her final address as PKR president, Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has urged all members to be magnanimous and accept the outcome of its just concluded polls.

While pointing out that there is no one infallible election method or system, Wan Azizah said credit must be given to PKR's election committee (JPP) and all its volunteers involved in the nine weeks of elections.

"But this does not mean I agree if there was any element of fraud and treachery in the election process.

"The authorities have initiated the investigation process, but let us not be too obsessed in finding weaknesses in the process to the point of destabilising the party," she said.

Wan Azizah further advised that the "Party First" spirit must be instilled in all members, to ensure that PKR remains a formidable force in the eye of its friends and foes.

As outgoing president, Wan Azizah said she has left behind the party in a good state.

She expressed the hope that her successors and members would continue taking care of the party and its legacy.

The PKR elections were marred with allegations of fraud and clashes between supporters of rival camps.

However, leaders at the PKR national congress, including election rivals deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali and Rafizi Ramli, have called for all to reconcile their differences under the leadership of Anwar Ibrahim as the new party president.  - Mkini
