Why are we dancing to opposition's tune, asks Saifuddin

PKR AGM | Outgoing PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution said they, as the ruling party, should not let the opposition set the agenda discussed among the public.
"We have been the government for six months and the topics being reported on the most are child marriage, Oktoberfest, LGBT issues and Icerd (International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination).
"All these issues are discussed in a racial and religious tone.
"Why are we allowing our political opponents to set the agenda and herd us to dance in their court?" Saifuddin asked in his speech at the 13th PKR national congress in Shah Alam today.
Instead, as the ruling party, PKR should shift the rakyat's attention to the work the government is doing in eliminating corruption and implementing the reform agenda, he said.
Since Pakatan Harapan won the last general election, child marriage and LGBT issues have cropped up quite often, and both the opposition and backbenchers have brought up these issues in parliament as well.
Most recently, Icerd has come under the spotlight after the government said it was considering ratifying the convention.
Umno and PAS had announced that they will hold an anti-Icerd protest in Kuala Lumpur on Dec 8. - Mkini
