‘I would slap his face’ - Chef Wan boils with rage over Najib's Felda visit

CAMERON POLLS | Redzuawan Ismail, popularly known as Chef Wan, is upset at former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak for hailing his administration's contributions to Felda settlers.
While campaigning for BN in Felda settlement Sungai Koyan on Friday, Najib described his administration as a “golden age” for settlers, as they had received bonuses and high salaries.
Asked about this today, the celebrity chef, who hails from the settlement, became enraged.
“Yes, it was a better life when you gave the Felda people all sorts of things, but the next day you stole from us until the agency went bankrupt!
“How could you let Felda be mismanaged like that? Come on!" he told reporters after campaigning for Pakatan Harapan in the Felda settlement today.
“You put (former Felda chairperson) Mohd Isa Samad up there knowing that he is so corrupted, with all kinds of sh*t he has done before.
"If I had him here I would slap him (Isa)."
Last Dec, Isa was charged with criminal breach of trust and nine counts of receiving more than RM3 million in kickbacks in relation to Felda's purchase of its hotel in Kuching.
Redzuawan added that he also wanted to slap the former prime minister.
I tampar muka Najib tu, kurang ajar! (I would slap Najib’s face, such disrespect!)"
“What do I worry? It was our tax money (that he distributed), tell him that,” he added.
'Settlers owe gov’t nothing'
While he was thankful to Najib's father Abdul Razak Hussein for setting up Felda, Redzuawan maintained that settlers owed nothing to his son's administration.
“Don’t simply say that we owe him something just because his father gave us (Felda) land. We do not owe the government anything.
"Of course we are thankful to his father for giving us land and for helping the Malays.
“But we did not sit down and do nothing, we worked the fields everyday,” he said.
The 61-year-old celebrity chef has been living in Felda Sungai Koyan since he was 13 years old.
He earlier held a cooking demonstration in the settlement with Harapan candidate M Manogaran and PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali.
His 87-year old mother, Noraini Abdullah, was also present. -Mkini
