Look to Penang for what PH can do, MP tells Malay voters in Rantau

Jelutong MP RSN Rayer addresses the crowd at Pekan Rantau last night.
RANTAU: Outspoken Jelutong MP RSN Rayer yesterday urged voters in Rantau to look to Penang as an example of Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) governance of the country.
Rayer, who is campaigning for PH candidate Dr Streram Sinnasamy, said Umno wants to “scare Malay voters” by equating support for PH with support for DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.
“But I want to ask you, for the last eight or nine months, have you heard anything about the PH government losing RM2.6 billion?
“Lim has always helped the Malays. In Penang, where he was chief minister for two terms, we have managed to clean the state. This is because of our welfare programmes, under Lim, for everyone,” he said at a campaign event organised by Seremban DAP here last night.
Addressing a largely Chinese crowd of about 100 people, he said PH wants unity among all Malaysians.
“We want to live in peace. So I ask you all (if you think PH is doing a bad job in government), go to Penang and talk to the Malays. They will give us an A1 rating.”
Rayer also sought to dispel fears that DAP is calling the shots in Putrajaya.
“Who is prime minister? It’s Dr Mahathir,” he said.
The by-election in Rantau on April 13 will see a four-cornered fight between Steram, Umno’s Mohamad Hasan, and two independent candidates – Malar Rajaram and Mohd Nor Yassin.

It was triggered after the court nullified the results of the May 9 polls last year. - FMT
