Academician gives Mujahid a failing mark

De facto Islamic Affairs Minister Mujahid Yusof Rawa deserves a failing mark despite working hard for the past one year in the Pakatan Harapan government.
According to academician Mohamad Tajuddin Mohamad Rasdi, this is because Mujahid (above) "worked in a different manner and failed to reach the crowd" who are misled by certain parties with agenda.
"The Malay issues are related to religion. The problem is they are being controlled by certain quarters using a certain narrative.
"If the narrative is not changed, nothing will change in the country," he said in the 'New Malaysia - Old Politics' forum at Wisma Methodist in Kuala Lumpur today.
He also stressed that the Education Ministry has to revise the Islamic subject in school because it isolates Islam from the civilisation of mankind.
"Before Prophet Muhammad was born, there had already been other civilisations. In the Quran, it says that you have to believe in other books. It indicates that it is part of the civilisation.
"Unfortunately, when you talk to some Muslims, they only care about post-Muhammad era."
Mohamad Tajudin, who is an architecture professor at UCSI university, said the problem with the terrorists and extremists is that they think they are special while other people are useless.
"Do we want to educate Muslims to be like that?
"Do we want to educate Malays to only think they are special while other people are inferior?
"There are things that other cultures do better and this is where we must work together," he said.
Because of the lack of knowledge of history, there are some Malays who condemn the Jews, but at the same time, they do not even know that prophet Moses was also a Jew, he added.
Commenting further on the Harapan's score sheet, Mohamad Tajudin said it is unfair to grade Harapan holistically.
"They did okay on some things but some other things were beyond their control.
"There're also things that have not changed. For instance, in term of security, I don't see much improvement from the police. Before this, they arrested those from the opposition.
"But now, they catch those from the BN."
Other than the arrest of politicians, he noted that there have been no developments on the Teoh Beng Hock case and the disappearance of Pastor Raymond Koh. - Mkini
