Anwar wants Azmin's explanation on last night's meeting

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has urged his deputy president Azmin Ali to explain last night's meeting which saw a number of BN and some PKR lawmakers gather at the latter's house in Putrajaya.
It was reported that at least 22 BN MPs and five PKR MPs were present at the meeting.
"Of course we will ask for an explanation. This has definitely raised a lot of questions by our friends so he should give an explanation," Anwar, who is also the Port Dickson MP, told reporters when met at the Parliament building today.
He said he was not sure whether the meeting was held in the party's capacity or the government's, though he questioned why there were lawmakers who were not invited if it was done in the government's capacity.

Meanwhile, PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil urged all party leaders to attend the party's Political Bureau meeting tomorrow to get the full details of last night's meeting.
"My hope is that all leaders can attend (the Political Bureau meeting tomorrow) so we can get the full details of what actually happened because if we see the rakyat's hope after the Tanjung Piai by-election, it is for the Pakatan Harapan government to improve their performance or services and solve the rakyat's problems as well as fulfil the manifesto promises.
"If it is true that there was a meeting last night, what is the manifesto that they want to resolve?
"I believe the leadership has a lot of questions and this can be resolved clearly when we have our Political Bureau meeting tomorrow night," Fahmi, who is also the Lembah Pantai MP, told reporters also at the Parliament building today.
Meanwhile, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution told Malaysiakini that he did not know anything about the meeting at Azmin's house last night.
Whatever the purpose of the meeting was, he said it was bad timing as Harapan just lost badly in the Tanjung Piai by-election.
"This meeting which invites a less favourable perception towards Harapan should be avoided. Harapan, after losing in Tanjung Piai, must be seen to be intact and compact to continue leading the government.
"Harapan stands upon the principles of equal trust and respect among parties in the coalition," said Saifuddin.
The meeting supposedly began around 9.30pm last night and lasted for about two hours.
Malaysiakini was able to get visual confirmation of the presence of two PKR MPs, namely Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin (Ampang) and Deputy Transport Minister Kamaruddin Jaffar (Bandar Tun Razak).
Zuraida waved at journalists gathered outside Azmin's house but did not comment. BN MPs leaving the residence were equally tight-lipped about the meeting.
Azmin, who is Economic Affairs Minister, saw journalists outside his house but did not meet them.
The meeting comes after some Harapan leaders blamed Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad for the coalition's devastating defeat in the Tanjung Piai by-election. They have also suggested that he hand over power to Anwar.
However, Azmin, who has an ongoing political feud with Anwar, yesterday came out in support of Mahathir and asked Harapan leaders to rally behind him.
Azmin had previously said that anyone who tried to take over as prime minister before the end of Mahathir's term would be a "backdoor government".
Azmin was speculated to be working with former Umno vice-president Hishammuddin Hussein, who is also the Sembrong MP, to block Anwar's rise.
Hishammuddin this morning denied allegations that he planned last night's meeting between opposition MPs and Azmin. - Mkini
