BN parliamentarians should focus on championing the interests of the rakyat instead of getting involved in Pakatan Harapan's leadership problems, said Najib Abdul Razak.
The BN advisory board chairperson said Harapan's issue was their problem and should be left to the ruling coalition to solve on their own.
"We should focus on our role as opposition, which is to champion the interests of the rakyat. That is the most important thing," he told reporters during a break at the 1MDB audit report hearing at the Jalan Duta Court Complex this morning.
"And because of that, because we have been focused, we got the support of the rakyat in Tanjung Piai," he added.
"The rakyat was crying out for leadership, and they want us to champion their interests, so we must focus on that."
Najib was commenting on a meeting held at the official residence of Economic Affairs Minister Azmin Ali in Putrajaya last night, involving about 30 BN MPs and the PKR deputy president.
He was asked about the meeting and its connection to speculation of a rift in Harapan, in which the leaders are said to be purportedly split between supporting the current prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad or PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.
Azmin, albeit being Anwar's number two, is widely known to favour Mahathir over Anwar.
"I think let Harapan resolve its own leadership problems. BN should not get involved," said Najib.
Asked on whether he knew about the meeting, Najib, who is a former prime minister, replied in the positive but stated that he was not invited.
"I was not invited. I'm fine. I don't want to be invited." - Mkini
Most of them are cari makan and opportunists politicians. Don't know how to struggle but only know easy way out and short cuts.
