Rafizi not interested in political comeback or positions for now

Prior to the last general election, Rafizi Ramli was a household name after exposing several scandals related to the previous BN government.
However, the former Pandan MP did not contest in the national polls after the Shah Alam Sessions Court imposed a 30-month jail sentence on him for leaking confidential banking details belonging to the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) in March 2012.
After the election, Rafizi courted flak from various quarters for questioning Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's cabinet appointments.
Rafizi, who is aligned to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, had also failed to unseat incumbent deputy president Azmin Ali in the party polls last year. However, he was later appointed as a vice-president.

He has maintained a low-profile since then.
This morning, the Shah Alam High Court acquitted him but Rafizi is in no rush to return to active politics.
"I am not interested for now (to return to active politics). Many do not understand that politics takes from you time and energy from (being spent) with your family.
"From the beginning, I stated that I was not interested to climb quickly in politics as before. I am also not interested in any position be it in the government or civilian.
"I think this three or four years. I want to return to be an ordinary person," he told reporters when met after the court decision.
Asked if he would reconsider the decision if Anwar requested him to do so, Rafizi said this is something the two of them would have to discuss in private instead of addressing the issue in the media.
"We will cross the bridge when we are there," he added.
In 2012, Rafizi and former bank clerk Johari Mohamad were convicted of violating the now-repealed Banking and Financial Institutions Act (Bafia) for disclosing banking details of NFC and its then chairperson Mohd Salleh Ismail.
Johari was also acquitted.
Mohd Salleh is the husband of Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, who was a former minister and Wanita Umno chief. - Mkini
