CHINI POLLS | PKR is still conducting studies on the upcoming Chini by-election and have yet to make any decisions, according to its secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution.
"We discussed this during the Pakatan Harapan meeting.
"PKR fielded a candidate there in 1999. We are still studying the matter. We haven't made a decision," he told Malaysiakini.
The Chini by-election will take place on July 4.
Saifuddin (above) said Pahang PKR chief Fuziah Salleh has been tasked with producing a report on the party's chances there.
In 1999, PKR, then called Parti Keadilan Nasional, won the Chini seat by a slim majority.
BN has won every election in Chini since.
Chini is one of four state constituencies under the Pekan parliamentary constituency - the stronghold of former premier Najib Abdul Razak who has been the local MP since 1986.
The Chini seat was declared vacant after the death of Abu Bakar Harun, 60, following a heart attack on May 6.
Abu Bakar won 61.7 percent of the total votes cast.
There are 20,990 registered voters, of which 18 are early voters. - Mkini
