Police have arrested a mentally challenged man in Petaling Jaya for harassing Bandar Utama assemblyperson Jamaliah Jamaluddin.
The man had been detained just a week ago on suspicion of using the identity of MCA youth chief Nicole Wong to commit cyber offences.
Petaling Jaya district police chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the 40-year-old man was detained this afternoon following a report lodged by Jamaliah last week.
Previously it was reported that the suspect had allegedly made death threats and racist remarks, as well as sexually harassed Jamaliah and Kampung Tunku state assemblyperson Lim Yi Wei.
However, it is understood that Lim had not filed a police report over the matter.
The case is being investigated under Sections 506, 509, 292 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.
Nik Ezanee said the suspect is an OKU cardholder since 2015 and had undergone psychiatric treatment in the past. - Mkini
